Affiliate and business-interest disclosure

Short version: some links on Hive Fuel may earn us money, and we're developing our own honey-based fuel. Here's what that means for you.

Affiliate links

Some links to stores on this site are, or will become, affiliate links. If you click one and buy something, Hive Fuel may earn a commission from the retailer. The price you pay is the same. Links like this are marked "affiliate link" next to the link, and every page carries a short disclosure at the bottom.

Programs we may join include Amazon.ca Associates, Running Room (through AvantLink), Sport Chek (through Impact), MEC, Honey Stinger and Sun River Honey. TODO: list only the programs that have actually approved Hive Fuel, before launch.

Our own product: a material connection

Hive Fuel is also the name of a pure Canadian honey energy stick that the owner of this site is developing. That means we have a business interest in honey-based fuel, and some products we compare are, or would be, competitors. We tell you this so you can weigh our comparisons with that in mind. When Hive Fuel's own product appears on the site, it will be clearly labelled as ours.

How we keep comparisons fair

Newsletter and social posts

The same disclosure applies to our newsletter and social media posts: each one that contains affiliate links or mentions our own product says so in the post itself, not only in a profile or on this page.

Why we tell you

Canada's Competition Bureau expects anyone who earns money from recommendations, or has another material connection to what they recommend, to disclose it clearly and prominently, close to the recommendation. We aim to meet that.
